JUST THE THING – A Marie Harte Review

img_2211

Gavin’s got a rough past and coming home with a severe case of PTSD isn’t easy for any marine. Finding solace as a gym trainer, Gavin meets Zoe. Sarcastic and sassy, it seems that Zoe has no time for Gavin. But he sees the loss behind her eyes and can’t help but tug on the pull he feels between them.

Zoe’s loss of her twin sister left a wound she never thought would heal. The guilt she feels for surviving has lead to so much stress that working out is her only release. That is until Gavin, the gym’s incessant trainer, sets his sights on her…and her pink yoga pants.

I loved that Harte has a hero that is very real about his PTSD. In the first book we got to see Gavin’s struggles (women and booze) before he accepted the help he needs. Having a hero that acknowledges his true weakness is actually showing true strength. Zoe’s decision to be a bit more carefree, like her sister had been, was truly inspiring. I loved watching her come alive alongside Gavin.

I’m glad we also got to see some behind the scenes for Theo, the baby Donnigan, and  Hope, the lone female Donnigan. I know these two are both going to have some wild tales. With a lot of sexiness and some downright romantic feels, this series is definitely just the thing you need!

Gavin Donnigan left the Marine Corps a shell of a man, hounded by guilt for deaths he couldn’t prevent. But teaching a self-defense class at the local gym brings some stability to his life―along with a gorgeous leggy woman who won’t give him the time of day.

Zoe York lost her twin sister to a freak car accident a few months ago. She’s been struggling to bury her grief, but it isn’t until she signs up for a self-defense class with its distractingly hot instructor that she begins to come out of her shell again. With the memory of her sister telling her to live a little, Zoe decides a fling with buns-of-steel Gavin Donnigan might be just the thing.

Soon they’re sparring both in and out of the gym. And for the first time in a long time, each is looking forward to tomorrow.
