THE FINAL FIGHT – A JB Salsbury Review & Giveaway

img_3554

Why is it that I always read the last in a series that ends up blowing my mind! Salsbury’s finale packs two stories in to one heartbreaking novel. AJ is a Las Vegas performer and bartender determined to find her dream. Brae, visiting his brother, happens upon her right as she’s between jobs and can’t deny his attraction. It’s hot, it’s explosive, and these two will drive you mad with the lust they feel for one another. It was only supposed to be a fling but Brae and AJ can’t deny the feelings they begin to have and the bond that grows between their easiness. But when Brae deploys for six months, he has to let her move on; even if it’s the last thing that AJ wants (enter heartbreak 1).

AJ never hears from Brae again. Not only is she heartbroken that she lost someone she was beginning to fall for but she had hoped that in some universe they could have stayed friends. There was hope that through the struggle they could find a way to happiness. But after months of silence, she can’t take the heartache anymore and the distraction costs her the last thing in her life that brings her joy (enter heartbreak 2).

Months after an accident leaves Brae crippled (mentally and physically) he runs in to AJ and neither can deny the chemistry that is still there. But Brae is a broken man, inside and out, and it’s going to take more than words to get him back to the Brae that AJ knew. So she takes it upon herself to fight for him and alongside him. She has to push him to be the best him, the version she fell in love with months ago.

Seeing and feeling the struggle that Brae goes through before and after AJ was heartbreaking. I just wanted these two to find a way to be together. He can’t accept the new man he’s become because he feels that he is less. But AJ doesn’t give up. She fights and eventually gets Brae to fight for himself. This a romance for true love. Watching as the hero and heroin fall in love once with their carefree and wild inhibitions and then a second time through a tough situation that may do not survive. I just loved the emotional ride The Final Fight took me on!

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author JB Salsbury releases the heart-pounding conclusion to the Fighting series.

AJ is a Las Vegas performer who is finally living her dream. Growing up poor, she’s determined to succeed at any cost. No one will stand in her way—not even a hot Marine who breezes into her life all confidence and a cocky smile.

A few stolen weekends and neither can deny the feelings quickly growing between them. But the obstacles that keep them apart become more devastating when the Marine Corps calls Braeden away for a six-month deployment.

It’s only six months.

Before I started writing all I did was read. There wasn’t a contemporary romance out there that I wouldn’t pick up. One day I realized a lot of stories I was reading seemed to follow the same formula. I got frustrated with predictable outcomes and unimaginative story lines and decided that rather than scour the Internet for the kind of story I wanted to read, I’d just write it.

When I published my first book I didn’t intend to write more than the one. If I could sell six books  to six people I didn’t know I considered myself a success. But that first book sold well over six copies and I knew I couldn’t stop there.

I was bitten by the writing bug and have poured my soul into every novel I’ve penned since. Some of my books have become USA Today Bestsellers, New York Times Bestsellers, and Fighting to Forgive won a RONE Award. I couldn’t be more proud of where my writing has taken me.

I live in Phoenix with my husband and two daughters where I’m lucky to be able to do something I love and still be home to juggle carpool, field trips, and fifth-grade homework.

When I’m not writing, reading, or spending time with my family I can be found on any of the local mountain trails hiking, or at the gym when the desert temps become unbearable. I love being outside, beach vacations, and spending time with friends.

JUST THE THING – A Marie Harte Review

img_2211

Gavin’s got a rough past and coming home with a severe case of PTSD isn’t easy for any marine. Finding solace as a gym trainer, Gavin meets Zoe. Sarcastic and sassy, it seems that Zoe has no time for Gavin. But he sees the loss behind her eyes and can’t help but tug on the pull he feels between them.

Zoe’s loss of her twin sister left a wound she never thought would heal. The guilt she feels for surviving has lead to so much stress that working out is her only release. That is until Gavin, the gym’s incessant trainer, sets his sights on her…and her pink yoga pants.

I loved that Harte has a hero that is very real about his PTSD. In the first book we got to see Gavin’s struggles (women and booze) before he accepted the help he needs. Having a hero that acknowledges his true weakness is actually showing true strength. Zoe’s decision to be a bit more carefree, like her sister had been, was truly inspiring. I loved watching her come alive alongside Gavin.

I’m glad we also got to see some behind the scenes for Theo, the baby Donnigan, and  Hope, the lone female Donnigan. I know these two are both going to have some wild tales. With a lot of sexiness and some downright romantic feels, this series is definitely just the thing you need!

Gavin Donnigan left the Marine Corps a shell of a man, hounded by guilt for deaths he couldn’t prevent. But teaching a self-defense class at the local gym brings some stability to his life―along with a gorgeous leggy woman who won’t give him the time of day.

Zoe York lost her twin sister to a freak car accident a few months ago. She’s been struggling to bury her grief, but it isn’t until she signs up for a self-defense class with its distractingly hot instructor that she begins to come out of her shell again. With the memory of her sister telling her to live a little, Zoe decides a fling with buns-of-steel Gavin Donnigan might be just the thing.

Soon they’re sparring both in and out of the gym. And for the first time in a long time, each is looking forward to tomorrow.
