Meet Shane Brandon. Golden boy to the Brandon Enterprise; returned home to save his family’s name from sure destruction. Amidst the drama of his family’s war he literally runs into Emily and is struck dumb by his want for her.

After a second chance meeting in the garage, the two spend a night together thinking that to be the end. As fate would have it, she’s his father’s new assistant and Emily’s put herself smack dab in the middle of Shane and his brother’s bid to win over their father’s favor.

Ok I will admit….book one was TOUGH for me. There was A LOT to take in as far as plot and characters and the twisted web that they weaved. It took a while but I was able to lead my way through it all. I wanted to like Shane more than I did…but he was a bit too controlling for my tastes. I could see parts of his possessiveness as being sexy but with Emily’s drastic reactions I found myself put-off. Additionally, Emily’s flip-flop attitude towards what she wants with Shane was so hard to follow.

In the end, a twist from Jones was able to still leave me wanting more and had me going for book two.

Picking up right where book one left off, Shane finally learns Emily’s secret she’s been hiding from him, and everyone else. I liked that with Emily’s story line we learned who her mysterious phone was for and why she was on the run. This allowed us to continue to explore Shane’s family tycoon turmoil while learning of new dangers from Emily’s side.

We also had a chance to see them grow into one another a bit more now that both of their secrets were out. Damage Control felt more like the suspenseful romance I wanted it to be and less like the history novel sensation of Hard Rules.

Jones seemed to spend a lot more time in this story setting up for the pieces to fall in line in book three.

Now this was the story I was waiting for. Filled with intrigue and mystery, Bad Deeds finds us down to the final chess pieces as Shane is set up to become the next possible heir to the Brandon business fortune. With his brother’s escapades coming to light Shane must navigate not only his familial landmines but his fresh relationship with Emily.

Now that the two of them have laid out all of their secrets, Jones brings us back to Shane’s story line with the theatrical and unpredictable cartel drug lord, Adrian. Shane must carefully tread cartel ground as he tries to save his old family and his new one. We also get the chance to see from his brother, Derek’s, point of view and how his stakes have changed from what we were led to believe from book one.

With another cliffhanger sure to leave you screaming for more, Bad Deeds definitely hits the mark on suspenseful and fast-paced romance. Each story better than the last; I can’t wait to finally see how all the pieces fall in End Game!
