DREAM MAKER – An Erin McCarthy Review

**ARC received from NetGalley for an honest review**

I was lucky enough to read Heart Breaker and Dream Maker in one sitting. Heart Breaker  unfortunately had an immature to feel to it that I generally wouldn’t associate with Erin McCarthy’s style. I was hoping Dream Maker wouldn’t have the same tone and thankfully it was more impressive.

I loved that Shane held the trope of tortured hero but with a more rock era vibe. He finds Avery after her very-recent breakup (Literally she’s storming out of the truck) and helps her when she’s got nowhere to go. I’m not always sold on the “still a virgin” trope but Avery somewhat sells it in a convincing way.

Shane’s ability to read Avery was fresh and nice to see. These two seemed to have such a laid back chemistry that it felt very old school romantic. It was tough seeing Shane’s angry side when dealing with jealousy and Avery. Predictably it stems from a place of where he’s struggled to deal with the past of his abusive father. One of his sisters got to deal with it though her music but Shane had no outlet where he could purge. He faced is father but it unfortunately felt a little anticlimactic.

I enjoyed Dream Maker a lot and I’m really hopeful for Love Taker, Elle’s story. For some reason she seems to most relatable for me.

Until next review…Happy Bingeing Beauties!
