Commander in Chief is out and power has never been sexier! Mr. President left us knowing that Matt Hamilton was going to run the country….but would Charlotte do it by his side? I was so glad that Katy Evans didn’t cliffhang the presidency but instead cliff hung the torturous will they/won’t they we read the whole book! CIC provides us with the conclusion we’ve all been waiting for!
I loved that Evans gave us a start with Matt’s point of view and a bit more from him throughout CIC. I wanted Matt to just let his worries drop and take Charlotte to be his First Lady. I was hoping there would be a bit more of that what will happen tease but Charlotte fell pretty quickly back into his arms after he takes office. I like that this was a ton of small stories, obstacles, and challenges as Matt faced not only a presidency but a life with Charlotte. Oh and how Charlotte takes to being a First Lady! They are both so awe inspiring in their beliefs and values; and they both stick to their words.
I also hoped that the side story of Matt’s father’s murder finally being investigated again, at Matt’s behest, had a bit more twist or suspense to it. I really thought thats where Evans was heading. But the conclusion was one of a reality and less Law & Order suspense. The story overall held one thing that most stories do not: a general happy story. Commander in Chief is a story of two genuinely good-natured, strong-willed people whore are support and complete each other so perfectly. Most romances give you a sense of suspense or the typical climax where they break up and somehow find a way back to one another but starting out that way left for one story filled with an enormous amount of love,
So glad that Katy Evans let these two have a story told over two books worth! Until next review…
