Donna Grant’s Dark King’s series is well underway and I jumped in at a way later date than any reader should. There’s a lot going on as far as sides to choose, enemies to face and trick, and humans to avoid detection from.
I loved the story as for as Devon and Anson discovering their feelings for one another. I got giddy every time the chapter switched to one of their points of view. They both didn’t want to just give in to their feelings but knew there was an undeniable pull there.
My other winning point was the crossover of dragons and Scots. I honestly think there is so much opportunity for that area of shifter romance. Katie MacAlister and Deborah Cooke hold that market for me but I want to give The Dark King’s series a go and start from the beginning so I can place this story into the right slots in my head.
My only downside to this story is how MUCH is going on within one book. I honestly think it has a lot to do with my late arrival to the series but it made finishing this book tougher than most because I had to push myself through the side chapters of characters where I didn’t understand their significance.
For long time Grant fans, this is a slam dunk with the series! Newbies, I highly recommend starting with book one so you don’t miss a single second of the action.
