The more they fight, the more desire consumes them…

There’s only one thing firefighter Sean Riddick doesn’t like about Warrior Fight Club, and that’s Daniela England, the sexiest, snarkiest, most irritating woman he’s ever known. But MMA training keeps the Navy vet grounded, so Sean’s not about to give it up, no matter how many times he goes toe to toe with Dani—or how bad he wants to take her to the mats.

A former Army nurse and the widow of a fallen soldier, Dani is done with the military and with military men. Fight club is the only thing that eases her nightmares, which means she has to put up with Riddick. He might be sex on a stick, but he’s infuriating and everything she’s vowed to avoid.

But when an accident throws Sean and Dani together, all that fight bursts into a night of red-hot passion. Now they’re addicted to the heat and must decide if the one person they’ve most resisted might be exactly what they’ve both been looking for.

If you haven’t started my wounded Warrior Fight Club series yet, you can jump in anywhere because they’re all sexy standalone romances! And here’s where you reserve your copy of Sean and Dani’s hot, hot story:

“Bring it,” Sean said, giving her a wink.

Ignoring his head games, Dani got into position. Fists up, elbows close to her ribs, lead leg forward. In this drill, Sean as the kicker could only make offensive moves with his legs. While, as the puncher, she couldn’t use her legs at all. Which meant she had to get in close while defending against his strikes.

They circled. Feinted. Attacked.

Sean was strong as hell, but she was faster by a lot. Dani used that to her advantage. Blocking and dodging his kicks and then getting inside to attack his ribs and gut and kidneys in the spare seconds before he regained his footing.

Each punch she landed released a pressure valve somewhere deep in her brain. And that release was so fundamental that she barely felt the kicks that Sean landed. Not that she gave him much chance to get them in, because she kept him close, under pressure, and on the defense blocking her punches.

“Damn, girl,” he said, respect and wariness plain in his voice.

“You told me to bring it,” she said, looking for another in. He blocked a shot at his ribs and delivered a spinning side kick that landed on the side of her thigh.

“Someone has some aggression to work out today,” he said.

“Do you have to talk so much?” she asked, sweat curling down the side of her face as she attacked again. This time she drove forward, forcing him to retreat and not letting him get in a kick.

Sean blocked and covered and dodged until they were in a clinch, breathing hard and face to face with no room to punch or kick. And for no good reason, heat roared over Dani. Heat that almost incinerated her from the inside out. Maybe it was the bulk of his muscles or the slick slide of their sweat or his scent of clean soap from a recent shower that couldn’t quite remove the hint of fire from his skin and hair.

As if he sensed it, Sean’s dark eyes flashed hot and his jaw went tight. Breaking the rules, he grabbed her around the waist and pulled her in close, letting her feel his erection for one spare moment before taking her to the mats in a controlled move that showed just how freaking strong he was. She expected to get the wind knocked out of her, but he’d more laid her out than knocked her down.

A whistle blew. “Switch up,” Colby called. “And follow the damn rules, Riddick. We’re not doing ground work right now.”

Everyone laughed.

But Dani and Sean were caught in a staring contest with their faces mere inches apart.

She wanted him inside her so bad that she nearly gave voice to it.

Her brain went immediately to that night.

How they’d circled each other throughout that whole damn party. How Sean had walked her to her car, parked right in front of his, which she’d begrudgingly thought sweet despite her insistence she didn’t need a damn chaperone. How they’d started bantering about something she couldn’t even remember now—because all she could remember was how desperately aroused she’d felt. How she’d teasingly punched him and he’d caught her arm and hauled her in against him. How the shock of his erection against her hip had made her look up at him. And how he’d claimed her mouth and she’d let him.

Oh, hell yeah, she’d let him do that and so much more…

And she wanted it again.

It was that thought that finally made her brain come back online. “Get. Off.”

His brow arched. Just the tiniest bit. “You can take your aggression out on me anytime.” He spoke in a rushed whisper, but the words impacted her like a body slam, pressing her back into the floor with some unseen force. Because she’d heard that tone in his voice before, when she’d straddled his lap on the big bench of his pick-up and finally taken him deep.

“Fucking hell, Dani. Take all of me.”

“Now,” Dani said, hoping he didn’t hear that her voice was affected, too.

In a move that seemed too lithe for someone his size, Sean hopped up then extended his hand to her.

Shook as she was, Dani accepted his help, then regretted it when he didn’t immediately release her hand but instead held her right in front of him—exactly like he had that night. “Just say the word.”

Dani swallowed hard. “Hold your breath waiting for it. Please.” She glared up at him, irritated with herself for letting him see inside her for that one unguarded moment when her body had reacted so viscerally to his. It was like that night had tuned their bodies into the same wavelength, and now they could communicate whether she wanted it or not.

Amusement and challenge slid into his gaze. “You’ll not only say it, Dani. You’ll beg me for it.”

WORTH FIGHTING FOR – A Laura Kaye Review

Powerful and so hot, Laura Kaye know show to write some of the best romances in the business! Tara (a member of Kaye’s Warrior Fight Club series) has been struggling since an accident in one of her dives nearly took her life. Now a civilian, WFC and her new job have taken place of her love of the Navy and the camaraderie that goes with it. Through it all, she still struggles with her anxiety and panic attacks that are a result of that accident. While the scars may have healed on the outside, inside her mind still roils. Which leads her to her local bar and the striking eyes of one Jesse Anderson. Sweet, charming, and inexplicably sexy, one night with Jesse calms her mind and awakens her body in ways she;s never felt. But it all goes south when the next day, he walks in to her work and her new team member.

Retired from the Navy and hoping to make a new life for himself, Jesse is looking forward to working as a civilian in the water. Not much of a life and death situation but still exciting and dangerous enough to feed his adrenaline. But the night before he starts, he meets the intriguing and refreshingly beautiful Tara Hunter. Funny, sexy, and more mysterious than even Jesse can be, he strikes up an easy immediate friendship with Tara that soon turns steamy. One night and he suddenly wants more; unexpectedly, fate throws the two of them together when his new job is working alongside her.

Despite all they have in common and the undeniable chemistry between them, both of them seem to hold back on what could be their HEA. Tara fears her concern of Jesse’s well-being will overtake her ability to care for their entire crew. Add on her anxiety and she truly fears losing Jesse so instead of risk it, she pushes him away. Jesse accepts this and fears he’s not worth fighting for so he let’s her go. Weeks go by as the two struggle to deny their attraction and let me tell you the tension is WORTH THE WAIT! This novella parading as a novel is so sweet and powerful; and reminds you that inner strength can outshine physical strength any day!

A very sexy and emotional strangers-to-lovers and co-workers story  FROM New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laura Kaye…

Getting in deep has never felt this good…

Commercial diver Tara Hunter nearly lost everything in an accident that saw her medically discharged from the navy. With the help of the Warrior Fight Club, she’s fought hard to overcome her fears and get back in the water where she’s always felt most at home. At work, she’s tough, serious, and doesn’t tolerate distractions. Which is why finding her gorgeous one-night stand on her new dive team is such a problem.

Former navy deep-sea diver Jesse Anderson just can’t seem to stop making mistakes—the latest being the hot-as-hell night he’d spent with his new partner. This job is his second chance, and Jesse knows he shouldn’t mix business with pleasure. But spending every day with Tara’s smart mouth and sexy curves makes her so damn hard to resist.

Joining Tara’s wounded warrior MMA training program seems like the perfect way for Jesse to blow off steam—except now they’re getting in deep and taking each other down day and night. And even though it breaks all the rules, their inescapable attraction might just be the only thing truly worth fighting for.

But when their roommate-ship turns in to a romance, things start to really heat up between the two of them. And Shay has more to fight than just her own insecurities; Billy’s wounds go deeper then the scarred skin on his body.

Billy’s used to quiet and solitude in his life. So coming home to his buddy’s little sister in his shower….not exactly boring and definitely exciting. But its in all the ways it shouldn’t be. Billy can’t cross those lines with Shay and she deserves someone more than an angry vet. But the more time he spends with Shay, the more he find himself opening up for the first time. And bringing her in to the Warrior Fight Club world opens the deepest secrets he has and ones he hasn’t shared with anyone. There’s a connection with Shay and Billy that sparks the minute the two characters come together. Shay is outspoken and creative in her field as a journalistic photographer. And Billy is her opposite in his stoic and strong ways. Together they compliment and blend like no other. I loved Shay’s tough attitude and her ability to accept Billy’s every layer. Kaye impresses with her ability to once again combine sexy heroes with rough pasts and even tougher walls to break through. Shayna saw Billy through the windows to the gym with the fighting rings where his club met. He was on his knees facing another fighter—a woman with a long black braid—while a bigger group knelt around the two of them. Shay had just enough time to appreciate that the club included women veterans before the woman attacked him.

For a long moment, they grappled with each other until Billy managed to flip the woman and pin her to the ground.

Three visceral reactions rocked through Shayna.

An almost animalistic appreciation of Billy’s brute strength.

Arousal at the memory of Billy pinning her against the wall.

And jealousy that another woman was experiencing the feeling of the weight of his body instead of her.

Shayna’s heart tripped into a sprint as she stood there, slack-jawed and wanting…

Suddenly, Billy sprang into a kneeling position again as the woman got up and moved to the outer ring of people, and it was clear that some sort of trash-talk being thrown between them from the looks on their faces and the way the others were laughing and clapping.

And then Mo moved into the center with Billy. As big as Billy was, Mo…Mo was like a mountain. His ready smile and deep laugh had earlier put Shayna at ease and allayed any concerns she’d had that she might be invading a space where she wasn’t wanted. But now Mo looked nothing short of intimidating as he stared Billy down.

The men seemed to lunge at the same time. They slammed into each other and worked to pull each other flat to the ground, and then finally they both went down. Shayna couldn’t see who had the advantage around those cheering the two men on, and she realized that she was straining and moving to the side to get a better view.

Whatever was going on, it was much longer before the fighters traded out, and this time it was Billy coming out of the center to join those on the side. A few of his teammates shook his hand before he moved outside of the group to grab his water bottle. And then he tilted his head way back to take a long drink.

And, holy mother of sweaty hot men, Billy Parrish was freaking gorgeous.

Muscles glistening. Shorts hanging dangerously low on his lean hips. Dark blond hair made even darker from sweat. Even the fingerless black gloves he wore were sexy as fuck. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he drank.

Shayna swallowed hard herself.

He wiped his mouth on the back of his glove and capped the bottle again, and then he did a double take as he noticed her standing in the window.

Heat absolutely roared over Shayna at having been caught so blatantly ogling him. And there was a smugness to the almost-smile he wore. But he gave her a little wave and nodded his head as if to invite her inside.

The gesture should not have made any part of her feel gooey, but it seemed her crush on her brother’s best friend had resurrected enough to indeed cause gooeyness. Whether she wanted that to happen or not.

Billy unlocked the door and gestured for her to go first. She hit the lights for the living room, and he dropped their bags onto the living room floor next to the door.

She turned and frowned, because it wasn’t like him to—

Billy’s hands were suddenly in her hair and his forehead was against hers. “You drive me fucking crazy, Shayna.”

“I-I do?” she asked, totally caught off guard but nearly euphoric at his words. “Good crazy, o-or—”

He nodded. “Good crazy. Even though, fuck. I should resist wanting you. I know I should.”

“No, no you shouldn’t,” she said, nearly breathless. “Why should you?”

His eyes were dark fire as they bore into hers. “You’re just starting out in life. Everything ahead of you, full of possibilities. But me…I’m a busted, used-up soldier without an army or a war. And I’m supposed to be looking out for you, not taking advantage of you.”

Shayna didn’t know what to respond to first. She hated that he saw himself that way. Shaking her head, she grasped at his wrists, holding him to her. “We had that conversation already. You can’t take advantage of someone who wants what you’re doing. And I…I do. God, you have to know how much I crushed on you when I was younger. Living with you has only made that stronger, Billy. Nothing about you looks busted or used-up to me. Nothing at all.”

He came closer, close enough that they touched everywhere, and he searched her eyes. “Ryan wouldn’t approve of this, of me.”

The closeness made it clear just how turned on he was, and the demanding press of his erection against her belly nearly stole her breath. “Ryan doesn’t get a say…” Her words trailed off, because as much as she believed them in this moment, they resurrected a memory she didn’t want to recall.

Of a time she’d uttered nearly those exact words to Dylan. And the consequences had been catastrophic.

“What do you want then?” Billy asked, pulling her from a lane of memories she didn’t want to go down. “I don’t want to assume, and I don’t want you to feel pressured into anything because you live in my house. Jesus, just saying that makes me feel like a lecherous asshole.”

“You’re not. And I don’t feel pressured. I just want you.”

Suddenly, Billy’s lips were on hers and his tongue was in her mouth and his hands tightened in her hair. She moaned at the suddenness of it, at the goodness of it.

He walked her backwards towards the steps. “Is this okay?”

“Yes,” she whispered around the edge of a kiss.

His hands moved to her waist and went to the hem of her white tank top. “Can I see you?”

Shayna nodded, pulling away from their kisses only long enough for the shirt to pass over her head, leaving her standing there in a lacy white bra and her jeans. He dropped her top to the floor.

“So fucking beautiful. Can I touch you?”

“Yes,” she whispered, sucking in a breath as he spread out his big hand against her throat and then dragged his fingers downward until he was cupping her breast.

He caught one of her bra straps and dragged it off her shoulder until he bared her nipple to his fingertips. He hauled an arm around her waist, bringing them closer even as he leaned down to kiss her exposed flesh. “Can I taste you?”

Jesus, those questions in that deep rasp were so freaking sexy that she could hardly stand it. “Please.”

“I got the bandages you asked for. I’ll grab them,” Shayna said.

Without looking at her, Billy nodded once. She heard the frustrated breath he released as she left the room. When she came back up, he was waiting at the top of the steps. “I got it from here, thanks.”

“I can help—”

“I’ve got it,” he said again, not quite meeting her gaze.

“You helped me, so why can’t I help—”

Shayna.”

Billy.” She understood how guys like Billy and her brother thought. She’d been around enough Rangers to know they hated needing help. But that didn’t mean they didn’t actually need it. “You won’t be able to reach the back of your shoulder. Let me help.”

He let out a harsh breath, then turned away. “Fine.” He disappeared into his bedroom at the back of the hallway.

She followed the rectangle of light spilling from the master bathroom and found him gathering supplies from the medicine cabinet. For a moment, she just stood in the doorway, because she could feel the anger rolling off of him. “I’m sorry if carrying my stupid desk made your shoulder worse.”

He slanted her a look, and it was clear that he was attempting to beat back his frustration. “It didn’t, so don’t worry.”

“I’m kinda predisposed to think things are my fault, so it can’t be helped.”

He frowned, and this time all the frustration bled from his expression. “Why do you say that?”

Because my idiocy and stubbornness killed my brother. That was what she thought, but what she said was, “I don’t know. Old habit.”

Billy shook his head. “Well, this isn’t your fault, Shayna. And I’d be willing to bet that whatever else you’re worrying about isn’t either.” He closed the toilet lid and sat heavily, and Shayna was glad that he looked away, because his words had unleashed a sting at the backs of her eyes. “I hate that I need help with this. Not that you’re the one helping.”

There went her belly again. “Just pretend I’m Ryan,” she said in a quiet voice.

He smirked up at her. “Why would I do that?”

“Because you probably wouldn’t care if a buddy was patching you up, right?”

He shrugged with one big shoulder. “Anyone ever told you that you can be too damn perceptive?”

“I am a photographer, after all. It’s literally my job to notice things.”

“Mine, too,” he said, tossing an appreciative glance over his shoulder. Their gazes collided. Held.

Made Shayna’s heart beat harder. “So, do I need to do anything special or just clean, bandage, tape?” she asked as her gaze scanned over his burn scars.

“Put antibiotic cream on before you bandage. Otherwise, that’s it. And be sure to pat rather than wipe. Because of the movement of the joint, this spot is the one area that has struggled to heal.”

She washed her hands and ran warm water over a wash cloth, then did as he said. “Let me know if I hurt you.”

“You won’t,” he said. “I can’t feel much where its scarred. My nerves are mostly shot back there.”

Shayna debated whether humor would help or hurt the situation, then went for it. “Well, in case you have one left, I don’t want to get on it.”

One beat passed, then another. Billy chuckled, and the sound did funny things to her chest. “Appreciate that, smart ass.”

She put a playful sauciness in her voice as she said, “You noticing my ass, Billy Parrish?”

He didn’t answer, even though his mental debate as to how to respond seemed to ring loudly, making her laugh as she tended to him.

“This is pretty much the same thing I had to do when I got the tattoo on my shoulder,” she said, smoothing antibiotic cream over the rent skin. She grimaced as she did so, not because she found it unpleasant, but because she worried about hurting him despite his reassurances.

“How many tattoos do you have?” he asked in a low voice.

The question reminded her that he’d seen one of them—her most intimate one, and heat filtered into her cheeks as she positioned the bandage. “Four. The one on my hip, and three on my back and shoulders. Once you have one, it’s kinda addicting.”

“Is that right?”

“Mmhmm,” she murmured, concentrating on the tape. “I think the bottom piece of tape might need to wrap under your arm a little to hold it in place. Is that okay?”

“Whatever you say, Goldilocks.”

“That’ll be Dr. Goldilocks to you, ya git.” She smoothed the tape down.

He chuckled again. “What’s with the colorful cursing?”

She grinned. “I grew up with brothers. Am I offending your sensitive ears, Ranger Parrish?”

“Hell, no,” he said. “I’m a fan.”

“There,” she said, surveying her work. Satisfaction warmed her belly, because she’d gotten to help him. And he’d called her pretty. And said he was a fan of the crazy crap that came out of her mouth. “All done.”

He rose and peered in the mirror. “Perfect, Shayna,” he said, their gazes meeting in the mirror.

And she could’ve sworn he said, “Perfect Shayna,” without the pause between. Especially when he looked at her like he was doing right now.

As if she had on far too many clothes. And Jesus did she suddenly agree.

“Any time you need patched up, consider me your girl,” she managed, still meeting the heat in those brown eyes.

Brown eyes whose reflection looked her up and down. “Don’t you mean woman? Consider you my woman?” he teased, throwing her earlier words back at her. “You know, when I need patched up.”

Shayna released a shaky breath. “Yeah. Exactly.”

He gave a slow nod, then turned to look at her directly, bringing them toe to toe. “Then, consider me your man when you need muscle. Now, how about I go move your car and help you build a desk?”

He’s broken and stuck in a realm of anger and he can’t seem to find light at the end of the tunnel. Mixed with his own turmoil is his developing feelings for his best friend Kristina. He’s never seen her as the woman she is today but the lust and companionship he finds in her rivals anyone else’s attempts to pull him from the muck in his mind.

Kristina can’t stand seeing her best friend torn apart and lost within his own emotions. As she begins to accept her own feelings towards Noah, Kristina has to help him realize the risks he takes in not seeking help with his PTSD and anger.

I loved Kaye’s ability to articulate Noah’s pain in such great detail. This is a man who whole struggling with the pain of a physical injury is also fighting an emotional battle inside. And that battle isn’t just the anger he feels and coming home without his team, it shows his struggle as a man as well. The dichotomy of his physical recovery with the Warrior Fight Club and his emotional redemption with art therapy perfectly showcases all the different avenues that our armed forces can seek help. Always one to push important initiatives alongside a sexy and heartfelt romance, I can’t wait for more of Laura Kate’s Warrior Fight Club and all the issue they’ll overcome!

“All done,” Noah said. He gently applied tape to hold the bandage in place, but with the way the back of her hand was swelling, there wasn’t any safe place to press. Sonofabitch. He couldn’t believe this had happened to her. And on his watch.

“You’re taking really good care of me, Noah. Thank you,” Kristina said with a small smile.

“I will always take care of you,” he bit out. And then he realized what he said, and just how vehemently he’d said it. And damn if it hadn’t sounded a whole lot more than friendly. He chanced a glance at Kristina, and it was clear that she’d registered something in his tone, too. He threw away the trash and sat against the edge of the desk. “Why don’t you sit with the ice for a few minutes?”

She rose and stood right in front of him, her pretty eyes even with his given how he was leaning. “I don’t need to sit,” she said in a low voice, her gaze boring into his.
Well, I need you to sit. So sit.”

Her eyebrow went up. Just the one.

Under other circumstances it might’ve made him laugh. Could she ever just fucking listen to him? But he was wound so tight over witnessing her getting hurt, over the idea that it could’ve been so much worse, over seeing her spilled blood, that it was all he could do not to redecorate Mr. Johnson’s office along the lines of his shower wall. He was nearly vibrating with pent-up frustration.

And now Kristina was boxing him in, observing him too closely, not giving him an out.
“Here’s the part where I’m gonna say ‘thank you,’ and you’re going to say ‘you’re welcome.’ Ready? Thank you for protecting me and taking care of me, Noah.” Her expression was expectant, and not a little amused.

Something about her playfulness wound him a notch tighter. Because he wasn’t playing. His gaze dropped from her eyes to her full pink lips, and desire sucker-punched him so hard he nearly gasped. “Does your mouth hurt?” he rasped.
“Why would my—”

Noah was on her in a flash. Hand cupping the side of her face, arm hauling her tight up against him, mouth claiming hers on a deep, needful, soul-healing kiss. Kristina’s muscles braced in surprise, but then she melted against him, going soft and pliant against all his hardness. And he was hard. So hard, so on edge, so in need of release, that he could’ve spun her around, lifted her onto the desk, and buried himself deep right here and right now.

He needed to be more gentle with her, but the need roaring through him wouldn’t allow him to slow down or back off. And her eager responsiveness didn’t help, either.

Her good hand fisted in his hair, her mouth sucked maddeningly at his tongue, and her body writhed against his erection. And goddamn the noises she was making, because the desperate moans and little mewls of need were hot as fuck, every one stroking his cock and making him harder.

Instinct told Noah that Kristina wouldn’t hinder him playing out his little fantasy on the desk.

Except she was hurt. And they were in a fucking sub shop. Annnd, he couldn’t forget about what was behind door number three—they were supposed to be Just. Friends.
Shit,” he rasped. “I did it again.”

She grasped at his face. “Yes, thank you for that, too. Keep doing it.” Kristina went in for another kiss. This time, her tongue penetrated him, like she wanted to fight him for control. And hell if that didn’t set off all kinds of heat inside him.

He flipped them around and pinned her to the desk, nearly leaning her backwards over it. The position brought his hard-on flush with that sweet, hot spot between her legs. She cried out and tried to grind against him, but his weight and her skirt kept her pinned tight.

Hurt. Sub shop. Friends.
Shit, wait.” He stepped back, putting space between them. Because he didn’t think he’d have the strength to resist a third time. Especially when she stared at him with such abject fucking need, her cheeks flush with desire, her hair mussed from his hands, her luscious breasts heaving under that clingy V-neck top. “You’re hurt.”

“And?” Kristina asked.

Noah glared. “Kristina, I’m kinda on the edge here, if you can’t tell.”

She slipped up onto the desk and spread her legs, just the little bit the skirt allowed.
