RESPECT – A Jay Crownover Review, Excerpt Reveal & Giveaway

img_1701

It’s finally here. The end of The Point series. Crownover’s bad boys found their balance and they weren’t afraid to fight tooth and nail for it. But Karsen and Booker….they’re a story covered in years of shadow.

Karsen thought she had left The Point behind when Booker broke her heart four years ago. She believed he felt the same for her and that one day they’d run away together to find that HEA. But her dreams were smashed to pieces in one night as Booker broke not only her heart but her trust as well. As she prepares to return for her sister’s wedding, Booker shows up with a declaration…he’s done waiting. But can Karsen truly trust Booker? Or will it all fall to pieces as the delicate life she built away from The Point begins to crumble and pull her back to the darkness.

Booker….my poor sweet Booker. How i wish to throttle you for breaking for Karsen. Now no spoilers here…truly…but read on readers and don’t give up on Booker in the beginning. The truth will come out. Booker’s past was a different shade of dark from our other Point non-heroes. He’s been cast aside and abused his whole life. So when the sunshine that is Karsen comes barreling in to his life, he flees from his emotions. After escaping said manipulation Booker realizes that she’s the one thing that’s kept him going and he’ll do anything to get her back. A road trip from hell, a twisted soul, and a visit from past ghosts turns this dark romantic redemption into a twisty fun ride. Sweet, powerful and downright sexy, Crownover ends on a high note with a spectacular ending. (Shout out to my main man Bax. Though I love all the Point boys, he holds a special piece of me!) I will miss this series SO MUCH!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jay Crownover, comes the next title in her The Breaking Point romantic suspense series, RESPECT. Don’t miss the amazing tour below, and order your copy today!

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who called a corrupt kingdom home sweet home.

Protected and sheltered from the worst the world had to offer, she fell in love with the crumbling city that burned and blazed around her. Every dirty corner, every scary shadow, found a place within her heart. So did a man who was violent and dangerous, just like the streets she claimed as her own.

He was all business and brutality, except when it came to her. With her, he was calm, caring, and heartbreakingly patient.

He warned her over and over that he wasn’t the man for her, but she refused to listen. She never expected either the streets or their enforcer to hurt her, since she’d given her heart so completely to both.

She should have known the streets in the Point were always going to be savage, and so was the man committed to keeping control of them in the hands of criminals and bloody kingpins.

Blindsided by a betrayal which cut so deeply she was sure the wounds would never heal, the princess fled the home she loved and the man who broke her heart. Throwing away her rusted, twisted crown was supposed to help her forget. All it did was make her long for everything she left behind. She told herself she would never go back, but in this tormented kingdom, family is everything. Eventually, she has no choice but to return.

While she was gone, the people who loved her worked hard to make the city safe, and the man who destroyed her sank deeper into the darkness. Going back shouldn’t feel like surrender… but it does. As this pretty princess hovers on the edge of the unknown, the past attacks with a vengeance. It’s a good reminder that puppy love eventually grows up and turns into something with sharp teeth and one hell of a bite.

She never asked for the keys to the kingdom. She’d much rather go out and build her own.

~Karsen~

Today I was finally old enough to have him.

Best. Birthday. Present. Ever.

It wasn’t uncommon for me to bop down to Booker’s place. He even left the door unlocked most days so I could get in. We lived in a fortress that had more eyes in the sky than a casino in Vegas, so he didn’t need to worry about simple things like locked doors. My crush on the behemoth of a man was pretty much common knowledge all around. Booker tended to treat me like I was an annoying kid sister. But there were times, when no one else was around, I could tell he was looking at me differently. He was hard to read, something that kept you alive in these parts. But I spent so much time watching him, I could see what no one else could. Those steely eyes softened, melted into a soft dove gray when he looked at me while no one else was paying any attention.

I glanced up at the camera that I knew was tracking my every move. I gave a little wave to whomever was monitoring the feed tonight. Race’s security guys were a part of my everyday life. Where I went, they followed. It was sort of like having an army of overprotective big brothers. Annoying yet necessary. It was a good thing I was obsessed with Booker. Having eyes only for him over the last few years meant I didn’t bring boys home to meet the family. I was pretty sure trying to date a guy my own age would have been impossible with those eagle-eyed brutes hanging around.

The butterflies in my stomach started sword fighting the closer I got to Booker’s door. I spent a lot of time making goo-goo eyes at the giant man and aimlessly trying to make conversation with him. He was too cold and reserved to attempt any harmless flirting, and I was always very aware of the line in the sand where Booker was concerned. He tolerated my infatuation and presence, but he always made it clear he was humoring me. He was the one who often reminded me there was a big, wide world out there, ripe for the picking. He told me I should never settle. However, when I tried to explain the only thing I was dying to experience was him, he diverted the conversation and pointedly told me that I was way too young for him. He also believed I was way too nice. He didn’t talk about his past, or his time in prison, but I had a feeling that wherever Noah Booker had been before made the Point look like Sesame Street.

When I was in front of the door, I took a second to make sure my white-blonde hair was smooth and sleek. I ran my tongue over the front of my teeth to make sure none of the plum-colored lip gloss was stuck to the surface. I wiped my hands down the front of my black skinny jeans, the ones that made my admittedly long legs look even longer and took a deep breath. It was now or never.

Today was the day.

DIGNITY – A Jay Crownover Review, Excerpt Reveal & Giveaway

img_3422

I have no idea how Jay Crownover manages to blow my mind with every new read. The Point is not a place known for happy endings. It’s where bad guys go to get worse or get gone.

Stark, AKA our Boy Genius, has been living the somewhat low life after signing his life away to the Devil in The Point. He’s like his machines: cold, effortless, and efficient. Cross him, his boss, or his low set of morals and he can wipe your existence from the electronic earth. Little does he know that a little thief has come in the night to steal away the hard wires he hides behind.

Noe has earned her spot on the streets; if the Devil is how you get in, then Noe is one way you can get out. She’s worked hard to erase the past she left behind as she helps victims of abuse escape. But one heist leaves her in the cross-hairs of the one man who can dig enough in to her past to find her and put her back in the limelight of her dangerous past. And now he’s the only man who can help save her.

The devil’s in the details on this one as Noe slowly draws out more and more of Stark’s personality as they race against time and a city that’s after them. There is quote after quote that I could go back to that gutted me. Noe is a woman who is strong in a new way. She’s been through something horrific that happens more than it ever should. And through it all she risks putting her self back in to the terrifying memories as she tries to help those going through a similar situation. Stark can’t help but find beauty in the strengths that she shows. Noe awakens a part of Stark he hasn’t felt since he was younger: the empathetic side that he only let loose when he vengeance got the best of him.

Watching Stark go from machine to man, emotionally, was so drool worthy. He’s not know for much words but when he opens his mouth, boy does he have some lines that will make any girl fall. (#theearrings … they KILL ME). There are snippets to those that we’ve seen in The Point as well. Ben’s got his moment (swoon!) as well as Bax and Race’s reputations play a part. And don’t think that Titus sits out when all hell breaks loose on his city; the good-cop-acting-bad is a key player as Stark and Noe plan to take down the biggest criminal The Point has seen in some time. With a city on edge and one of the most electrifying couple I’ve ever read, DIGNITY is an automatic 5 star top read once again from Crownover!

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jay Crownover returns with the second title in her romantic suspense series, The Breaking Point, DIGNITY. Check out the excerpt below and grab your copy today!

About DIGNITY:

Looks can be deceiving.

I knew that most people took one look at the ink and the impossibly big and strong body it covered and decided I was a brawler…a bruiser…a beast. However, I was hardwired to be a thinker, not a fighter.

I should have chosen to use my brain and talents to be one of the good guys, a hero, a man with dignity and worth.

I turned my back on dignity and sold my soul to the highest bidder, deciding to dance with the devil, instead.

I couldn’t figure out how to help myself, so there was zero chance I knew how to save someone else.

That someone else was Noe Lee. She was the unkempt, unruly thief who was just as smart as I was and twice as street savvy. She was annoyingly adorable beneath the dirt and grime, and she was in trouble. In way over her head, I told myself it wasn’t my job to keep her from drowning. In the Point, it was sink or swim, and I wasn’t the designated lifeguard on duty.

I shut the door in her face, but now she’s gone…vanished…disappeared without a trace. It took less than a second for me to realize that I wanted her back.

When a woman comes along that melts all the frozen, hard things you’re made of; you’ll do anything you have to, to bring her home.

What you see is not always what you get…and with a man like me, what you get is more than anyone ever bargained for.

Excerpt(1).png

Protective and possessive instincts coiled around my gut and rage felt like it was going to choke me. I was so used to being cold and numb, I didn’t know what to do with the fire that was licking at my insides.

“I saw him take her out of the trunk when they got to the docks. He moved like a cop. Not the kind who is there to actually protect and serve, but the kind who pulls you over for no reason and slaps cuffs on you to prove a point. I was locked up for a lot of years, boy genius. I know what a dirty cop looks like. He had a busted-up nose and stitches on the side of his face. Should be pretty easy for Titus to identify him.”

Titus King was Bax’s half-brother and the only law enforcement officer in the entire city any of us slightly trusted. He was one of the few men the Point hadn’t tainted. He was a good guy, trying to do right by the people in our city, and he wouldn’t hesitate to throw Goddard’s dirty cop under the bus. But I didn’t want anyone going after the Mayor. His sadistic ass was all mine.

“Do you think they made it out of the container after you hit it with the truck?” That had been my idea. Nassir was only sending in Booker and Benny to get Noe out, but I didn’t think it was enough fire power. Since he refused to let me go, even siccing Chuck on me as a babysitter until the job was done, I made Benny go over the plan with me no less than a hundred times until I came up with a better one. Knocking the container sideways with one of the big semi-trucks that littered the area would give Benny the time he needed to get Noe out and distract the outside security detail enough that Booker could do his thing. It was a risk because the people inside the container—including Noe and Benny—might have ended up injured when the thing flipped, but the odds of them making it out were much higher than if Benny tried to take on everyone on his own.

“If Benny made it out, we won’t hear from him again. That was the deal he made with Nassir. He would get your girl and then disappear, so he can go and live happily ever after with his. As for the rest of them,” he shrugged, “I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Your girl said someone had a gun, so if they were shooting at Benny, he would do whatever he could to make sure they stopped. He’s not about to catch a bullet for any of us. I know you want that asshole alive for your own reasons, but honestly, it’s better if Benny popped him.”

It was better, but it wasn’t what I wanted. A bullet between the eyes was way too easy for a guy like Goddard. People would bemoan how bad the Point had become, how Goddard had been a staunch supporter of crime prevention measures. He would die a martyr and a legend. I couldn’t stand the thought of that. I wanted who Goddard was, who he really was, out in the open. I wanted his mansion doors flung wide open and every skeleton inside the walls exposed and thrown out on the perfectly manicured lawn for the entire world to see. I hated people who hid behind the law. I hated when men in any position of power got off on using their elevated status to jerk the helpless and hopeless around. Death wasn’t the answer. Devastation was.

I closed my eyes and squeezed the cold, still hand that was clasped in mine. Failure weighed heavy on my shoulders and fury lit up my blood like popping and sizzling firecrackers.

“When do we ever end up with anything that’s better for us?” That wasn’t how the Point worked. That wasn’t how we worked.

Booker grunted and I felt him move behind me. “It happens. It doesn’t seem like better should be able to find a foothold in this place, but despite all odds, it does.”

AVENGED – A Jay Crownover Review

One novel and four novellas promise to take readers back into New York Times bestselling author Liliana Hart’s MacKenzie Family with hot and steamy stories readers are sure to lose themselves in. Delve into the world you all know and love, and grab your copies today!

A Letter from Liliana Hart:

Dear Readers,

I’m thrilled to announce the MacKenzie Family World is returning! I asked four of my favorite authors to create their own characters and put them into the world you all know and love. These amazing authors revisited Surrender, Montana, and through their imagination you’ll get to meet new characters, while reuniting with some of your favorites.

These stories are hot, hot, hot and packed with action and adventure—exactly what you’d expect from a MacKenzie story. It was pure pleasure for me to read each and every one of them and see my world through someone else’s eyes. They definitely did the series justice, and I hope you discover four new authors to put on your auto-buy list.

Make sure you check out Spies and Stilettos, a brand new, full-length MacKenzie novel written by me. This will be the final installment of the MacKenzie series, featuring Brady Scott and Elena Nayal. After eighteen books of my own and nine books written by other bestselling authors in the MacKenzie World, it’s going to be difficult to say goodbye to a family I know as well as my own. Thank you for falling in love with the MacKenzies.

So grab a glass of wine, pour a bubble bath, and prepare to Surrender.

Love Always,

Liliana Hart

**ARC received from the author for an honest review**

Oooh when The Point meets the Saints of Denver things GET GOOD! Ben and Echo have walked on the wrong side of the tracks in their towns for longer than they can remember. But when Echo’s mission to find the man her sister left behind leads her straight into the arms of dangerous Ben… Talk about a bad boy.

I loved Ben’s character and would’ve loved to see even more about him. Crownover is exceptional at writing believable bad characters that you want to fight for. Ben has an odd sense of right and wrong that still works out for him to live a lifestyle that would frighten most. Echo shows up in the most dramatic way! Being alone in the woods with a man who can’t be 100% honest with his past can get dicey. But don’t let the bad boy persona fool you. Ben’s 100% sexy and his reaction to Echo leaves nothing to be desired…or everything technically.

Echo..I wanted SO much more about her. If you haven’t read books 1 from the SoD and Point series you wouldn’t know where she (and Ben) come from but you wouldn’t be lost. There’s still a history told and a story that could be its own book. And that’s something that was lacking really in this novella…I wish it had been a full fledged story on its own. Echo and Ben have an undeniable bond, yes, but they seems to move so quickly in a way that just leaves something out.

Definitely interesting to see two series come together in another world!
