NIGHTCHASER – An Amanda Bouchet Review

It’s been quite some time since I’ve read a space-themed romance. To be honest, its been Sherrilyn Kenyon or Gena Showalter universes that have held my interest. But I;m so glad I took a chance on Amanda Bouchet’s new series with Nightchaser. Not only does it remind me of Robin Hood but for an other nerds out there, it reminds me a lot of Serenity/firefly. Space pirates out there, somewhat reluctantly seeking justice and righteousness for those less fortunate. Tess and her crew are welcome among those groups but her tale comes with a side order or espionage.

Not only does Tess take risks, she’s not afraid to face authority. But when it comes down to revealing her #1 secret, Tess has to reveal her true identity in order for them to make an almost kamikaze choice. But when the risk pays off and spits her into a new Sector of space, her refuge leads her to one charming rogue by the name of Shade. He knows the planet like no one else and their attraction sparks immediately. But before Tess can escape to the reaches of space again with her crew, Shade has to help her repair her ship. With close calls of the Overseer’s (our villain) goons; Shade poses a danger Tess has no idea about. He may be a rogue, but her picture has landed in his lap as the largest bounty he’s ever been given to collect. Enough for him to repair the past he’s been chasing for years.

I would almost categorize this is an action/suspense romance because while Tess and her crew may be avoiding capture, it’s a slow paced evasion. Their essentially hiding out on a planet which has it’s own dangers. Tess and her crew face them every day before their week of repairs are up. Meanwhile Shade is falling for Tess while trying to decide if her bounty is worth sacrificing a woman he’s connected with for the first time in a long time. A new battle in space determines their fate and I’m excited to see where Tess, Shade, and her crew go!

Captain Tess Bailey and her crew of Robin Hood-like thieves are desperate and on the run. Pursued by a vicious military general who wants them dead or alive, Tess has to decide if she can trust Shade Ganavan, a tall, dark, and much-too-appealing stranger with ambiguous motivations.

Shade Ganavan had oodles of arrogance, oodles of charm, and oodles of something that made me want to kick him in the nuts.

What Tess and Shade don’t know about each other might get them killed…unless they can set aside their differences and learn to trust each other before it’s too late for them both.

Amanda Bouchet grew up in New England where she spent much of her time tromping around in the woods and making up grand adventures in her head. It was inevitable that one day she would start writing them down. Drawing on her Greek heritage for the setting and on her love of all things daring and romantic for the rest, her debut trilogy, The Kingmaker Chronicles, took form. She writes what she loves to read: epic exploits, steamy romance, and characters that make you laugh and cry.

Her first novel, A Promise of Fire, won several Romance Writers of America chapter contests, including the Orange Rose Contest and the paranormal category of the prestigious Golden Pen.

A French master’s graduate and former English teacher, Amanda lives in Paris, France. She met her husband while studying abroad, and the family now includes two bilingual children who will soon be correcting her French.

IMG_1756.JPG

Katie Ruggle is BACK! Just when you thought the Rocky Mountain’\s couldn’t get any sexier. Say hello to the K9 Unit.

After suffering the great loss of his partner, Theo has to find a way to move forward with Viggy, his partner’s K9 unit. Neither of them have been the same since the unexpected suicide of their closest companion and can’t seem to find a common ground.

Enter Jules; Theo is taken back by the new stranger come to town. Who she is and why she chose this town remains a mystery Theo has the strong compulsion to investigate. Not to mention that once he starts to get close to her and her siblings, especially Viggy with her youngest sister, he can’t seem to ignore the pull they have towards one another.

Jules hasn’t always had the best life but she’s done what she can to protect her four siblings from horrible nightmares that no child should have to endure. When the opportunity arises for her to escape with them and go on the run: she goes without a second thought. But a cop in their new “hometown” seems to have an eye for her, and she’s not too keen to shy away from Theo.

Though the fear of Theo finding out the truth and her past lurking past every corner seems to be her biggest threat…sometimes running into unknown territory lands you in hot water.

Can’t wait for more of this Rocky Mountain team!

He lost his K9 partner.
He almost lost his will to live.
But when a ruthless killer targets a woman on the run, Theo and his new K9 companion will do whatever it takes to survive—and save the woman neither can live without.

Grieving the death of his partner, Theo Bosco has no room in his life for distractions. Though his instincts scream that he should avoid Juliet ‘Jules’ Jackson, he can’t seem to stay away. It doesn’t help that Theo’s new K9 companion has fallen head over paws with Jules’s rambunctious family.

Or that when he’s with her, Theo finally knows peace.

When Jules rescued her siblings, whisking them away to the safety of the beautifully rugged Colorado Rockies, she never expected to catch the eye—or the heart—of a cop. Yet as Jules struggles to fight her growing attraction to the brooding K9 officer, another threat lurks much closer to home…

And this time, there’s no escape.

katie_ruggle_500x333.jpg A fan of the old adage “write what you know”, Katie Ruggle lived in an off-grid, solar- and wind-powered house in the Rocky Mountains until her family lured her back to Minnesota. When she’s not writing, Katie rides horses, shoots guns (not while riding, although that would be awesome), cross-country skis (badly) and travels to warm places where she can scuba dive. A graduate of the Police Academy, Katie received her ice-rescue certification and can attest that the reservoirs in the Colorado mountains really are that cold. A fan of anything that makes her feel like a bad-ass, she has trained in Krav Maga, boxing and gymnastics.
