HATED – A Christina Manzari Review

img_3039

Ok so I came in at book 3 on this series but I SO don’t regret a THING! This book has it all! Angst (soo much angst!), romance, past loves, a RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING TWIST, heartbreak of the good and bad kind. JUST LOVE IT ALL! Hated will give you the second chance romance that will refresh you love of happy ever afters.

Frankie is back in her family home after spending years away. The memories that come back to her of her young love, Austin, threaten to break her heart all over again. So when she finds out that he’s also back home, and next door again, she believes there could be another chance at closure. As Austin and Frankie begin to mold back into their ways of teenage prank wars there’s an obvious learning curve as they’ve both grown and changed as adults.

I loved these two so much. Alongside the dual POV we get to see flashbacks of them when they first met. As the story progresses so does their history until we come to the twist that tore them apart years ago. There is a slow progression in this tale but its is worth every word. You can feel all the tension as Austin tries to learn what made Frankie run all those years ago and it will have you craving more and more!

36003268.jpg Frankie DiGorgio has returned home for the summer to fix up and sell the home she grew up in. But when Frankie discovers Austin Stone is also back home and right next door, her summer suddenly seems more exciting than the motocross tracks she races on.

Four years ago, Austin was her best friend. Her first love. The only boy who saw more than just her rough edges.

But Austin left Frankie behind to perform in Las Vegas with his brother Dallas after winning Rising Stars. And Frankie didn’t wait around for him. Instead, she disappeared with no explanation and she hasn’t spoken to Austin since then.

Austin hates Frankie now.

Unfortunately, they’re next door neighbors again and Frankie and Austin can’t avoid each other anymore. With little more than bitterness, heartbreak, and secrets between them, they soon find themselves reverting to their childhood habits—prank wars. As Frankie and Austin’s past is put back together and old feelings resurface, they discover it’s a fine line between love and hate.

And the secrets Frankie has kept could cross the line right into hate.

THE FINAL SCORE – A Jaci Burton Review & Giveaway

img_2925

The sports romance dynasties combine and they are HOT! Mia Cassidy is now in the city where her best friend and crush, Nathan Riley now is. They had a one-time night together, but Mia loves their friendships too much to risk losing Nathan in any way. Nathan feels the same but the more time he spends with Mia, the more he thinks they could have a chance at the real deal.

This is an odd second-chance romance in that Mia and Nathan had one drunken night together but now as they are getting older they want more and see more in one another, Burton did an amazing job pairing Mia with Nathan. The first Riley boy with the young Cassidy girl…EEK! It’s what paired families dream of! But in all honesty the friendship between these two is beautiful long before they decide to make things more serious.

Both of them are supportive and honest with each other in a way that only true best friends can be. And that makes for an honestly epic romance story. I loved getting to see these two come to understand their feelings for one another beyond the boundaries of friendship. It’s a whole different world when you love someone more than just a friends. These two become true partners. Love, love, loved it!!!

33540070.jpg In the new Play-by-Play novel by the New York Times bestselling author of Rules of Contact, a star quarterback is torn between his love of the game—and the woman who may be the love of his life.

Nathan Riley is ready to follow in the footsteps of his famous football player father. He’s been drafted as quarterback for his dad’s former team, and his sports future is bright. When his friend Mia Cassidy moves to the same city, their years-long friendship suddenly sparks hot, reminding him of the one night they had together in college that he can never forget.

Like Nathan, Mia is from a sports dynasty family and embarking on an incredible new career—as founder of her own sports management company. Her friendship with Nathan means everything to her, and tossing sex into the mix again could jeopardize it all. But the chemistry between them has always sizzled, and it isn’t long before Mia realizes she wants more with Nathan than just late-night talks and pizza.

Passion has a funny way of changing the rules, and soon Nathan and Mia realize that to win it all, they’ll have to make an unexpected play for love.

BENEATH THE TRUTH – A Meghan March Excerpt

From USA Today bestselling author Meghan March comes the final sexy standalone set in the Beneath world of New Orleans.

I used to believe there were lines in life you don’t cross.
Don’t lie. Don’t cheat. Don’t steal.
Until I learned people don’t always practice what they preach.
I turned in my badge and gun and walked away from everything.
Then I got the call no one wants, and I’m back in New Orleans.
What I don’t expect is for her to be here too.
Another line you don’t cross?
Don’t touch your best friend’s little sister.
She’s always been off-limits.
Too bad I don’t follow the rules anymore.

EXCERPT

“Fine. If you don’t want to play me, I’m sure there’s someone in this bar who will.”

She rose from the bar stool and smoothed her dress down her thighs. I swore it looked longer at the cemetery than it did right now, inching up her toned legs. The shoulders and chest were sheer black lace, as sophisticated as could be, but the lace took on a sexier edge in the dim light of the bar. I’d lay money on her being the classiest thing this place had ever seen. And damn, what those heels did for her . . .

I ripped my gaze away from her ass to focus on her face.

Her lips flattened in obstinate challenge before she strutted toward the pool table. And yeah, I used the word strutted because there was no other way to describe how she walked in those stilettos now that her attitude was flaring.

Heads turned to follow her progress, and two guys jumped off their stools to follow her.

Oh, hell no. Not a chance, assholes.

I pushed off my seat and stalked toward her. Ari’s back was to me when I stopped behind her at the cue rack. She spun around, unaware of my presence, and smacked into my chest, a pool stick trapped between us. She sucked in a breath, jerking her head up.

“Sorry. Didn’t realize you were so close.”

Years ago, she never would have lost track of where I was if we were in the same room. The realization was a blow to my ego, although not unexpected. I no longer made the cut on her priority list, and that stung.

Rather than move and give her space, I reached around her to snag a cue off the rack, letting my arm brush her shoulder.

Ah . . . there it is. Her facial expression remained static, but her involuntary shiver gave her away. Maybe I’m not off the list completely.

I didn’t know why it mattered, but after the last few brutal days, I needed something good to distract me from the shit show that was my life. And there was no doubt in my mind that Ariel Sampson was everything good.

Her spine straightened and she bobbed around me, avoiding contact in favor of racking the balls and lining them up.

“Do you want to break?” she asked.

“Ladies first.”

Ari rolled her eyes and reached for the chalk. With her stick prepped, she leaned over the edge of the table, her ass jutting out and the hem of her dress riding up her thigh.

Lord . . . I groaned silently. This was torture.

Haven’t I been through enough? I tossed the question skyward and received no sign the big man had heard me.

I tore my gaze off her ass and scanned the bar. Mistake. My fist tightened around the pool cue as a reflex, but that didn’t mean I wouldn’t use it to smack every jerk in this bar back into line if they didn’t quit staring. Double standard? Sure. But I didn’t care.

With a step behind her, I blocked the most direct view and turned to glare at all of them. Thankfully, Heath’s interest was hooked on the waitress working our table. One by one, the gazes dropped away, and I turned back to Ari, marginally satisfied that they picked up what I was throwing down. Off-limits, assholes.

Ari cursed and stood up straight, leaning lightly on her pool cue. “Dammit. I had that shot.”

I scanned the green felt and found half her balls were missing. “Jesus, what were you doing? Trying to clear the table?”

Her nose went up in the air. “Trying? If I wanted to clear the table, it would be clear. It’s just angles.”

“Brainiac as always.”

Ari shrugged, but I caught a hint of a smile. “Didn’t you hear? It’s cool to be a geek now.”

I had no doubt that wherever she lived in California, she was exactly what was cool. Shit, she had every man’s attention in this bar.

“You were always cool in my book, Red. My turn.” Even though I wanted to wait for her smile, I chalked my cue and sank two shots before missing the third.

“Not bad.” Her nonchalant tone made me grin.

“I try.”

Her eyes finally locked on mine. “I succeed.”

Hell. Why was that statement so damned sexy coming from her lips?

She pushed off her pool cue and spun around to face the table again, her dress sliding up another inch as she bent over the table.

My dick pulsed against my jeans.

Heath is going to kill me.

SAY YOU’LL STAY – A Corinne Michaels Review

img_2167

Whew…these southern romances are winning me over lately. Presley is a southern girl turned city slicker after the boy she loved broke her heart. She thinks she’s found her new dream: a husband who supports and loves her, children whom she adores, and a business with her best friend and sister in law that bring her joy. But all of it comes crashing to a halt when she discovers her husband has taken his own life and left her and her two boys a mountain of unforgivable debt.

Seeing no other solution, Presley has to return to her family’s ranch. Her lost love’s brother’s may be there but at least she doesn’t have to worry about breaking her heart for the 3rd time: he should be long gone. Pulling herself out of her depression isn’t easy but a quick stop in town results in seeing the one person she couldn’t handle: Zach.

Zach never thought he’d see Presley again after their rough breakup in college. She was the one for him and he didn’t feel like he was enough for her. He’s compared every woman in his life to her and no one’s come close. But now with her life coming off the rails, he sees his one last chance to try again.

My heart broke for Presley from the start! I couldn’t imagine having to deal with the situation she was put into by her husband (losing him and their home). Say You’ll Stay had me hooked from the start and I HAD to know that Presley would find happiness again. Zach was just the right kind of charmer that she needed again (and her boys needed). He was her home and she finally had someone who despite their past, she could trust and open up to. I loved watching these two find their way back as adults. Though there were some hard times with Presley trying to overcome her husband’s death and Zach’s past. Zach knew just what to say and when to push.

I’ll definitely be coming back for more of the Hennington brothers..and Cooper!

img_2162 One word.
Stay.

It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.

That was seventeen years ago.

I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.

Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.

This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken . . .

TYCOON – A Katy Evans Review

img_2091

Hi, I’m a sucker for second chance romances because SOME PEOPLE BELONG TOGETHER! Apparently Katy Evans is intent on providing just the sexy tale I need to quench my second-chance romance thirst! Enter Aaric Christos, your new wet daydream. Move over lovers of Christian Grey (only in the business man, powerfully, sexy man way) because Aaric is situating himself right in front (even his name is alphabetically always first!).

Bryn and Aaric lost their chance at love when they were younger and somehow fate has determined to push them back together. When Bryn decides that the only man who can help her startup company is none other than “the one that got away” she has a tough decision to make. Keep it professional or take a chance?

The way Evans shows the backstory between the chapters was one of my favorite parts of this story. You not only have the chance to learn these characters as adults and learn glimpses of their past through their now adult eyes. But Evans shows you their thoughts and memories in flashbacks to moments that truly impact their core character definition.

This story may have been a second chance romance but there’s definitely a sprinkle of forbidden romance on top. Aaric has a way of convincingly trying to persuade Bryn to be with him all while pushing her to be the best “her” she can be in her business. His faith in her and them is just beautiful! I can’t wait for more!!

Tycoon, an all-new standalone from Katy Evans is LIVE!!!

Tycoon Amazon

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.

Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.

That man is gone.

In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.

He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.

The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.

It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.

I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.

And he doesn’t.

Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.

Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.

He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare.

I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.

Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.

Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.
