BURNED – A Christina Phillips Review

img_0399

This story. I was not prepared for the emotions this romance wrought from me. Ty’s been content for years after the love of his life walked away. He put all he had into the club and eventually became the VP of the Bastards. He thought life was good; until Jasmine walks back in to town in a whirlwind. What are the odds that she runs into him within hours of being back? Jasmine knows why she had to walk away when she was a teenager, but seeing Ty is breaking her heart all over again. Even with the pain they’ve been through, one night is all they’re willing to give to settle old flames.

Phillips does a wonderful job truly disguising the past from readers. Jasmine couldn’t take the pain of her youth when she was with Ty. His family ridiculed her and her mother and sometimes a final straw is all it takes to change the course of someone’s life. Ty was much sweeter than I anticipated. Don’t get it wrong, he’s dirty, filthy fun too. But the man has a heart when it comes to the right moments. This romance is fully packed with heavy moments on top of perfectly weaved misconceptions of the past. I couldn’t put it down and had to now the truth about Jasmine and Ty. In the end, Phillips had me crying for all that Jasmine and Ty had lost and at the bright hope of a future they could have. You’ll definitely want to add this spectacular 5 star read to your list!

She’s the one girl he can’t forget…

Ten years ago I offered her everything, and she threw it back in my face. When she walked, I vowed no other woman would ever screw with my head the way she did. I moved on. Now I’m the V.P. of the Bastards, run my own nightclub, and nameless sex keeps me sane. No commitment or ties, just the way I like it.

Now she’s back, for one week only, gorgeous, successful, and I can’t keep away. She offers a long goodbye, a way to heal our fractured past. She burned me so bad, there’s no way I should even want to be near her. But the more she gives, the more I need. Until I discover the real reason she left, and my whole goddamn world implodes…

CINDERELLA AND THE GEEK – A Christina Phillips Review

img_4515

Do you like quirky romances with characters who are inherently charming in their awkwardness? Phillips’ latest romance is here to fulfill your need. Alice has spent months dreamily eyeing her boss and gamer-guru Harry. She’s off to college in a mere few weeks and has decided it’s now or never. She’s going to take the plunge and confess her feelings for Harry in the hopes for one night of passion to stay in her memories forever. But a glamorous night out as a favor to Harry throws her plans into a tailspin as she has to navigate the line between whats right and wrong. Pretending to be his girlfriend has its perks but she needs to know what is real and what could be a future for the two of them.

Harry knows his feelings for Alice are wrong; she’s his employee. But the reality of her leaving in a few weeks stirs a longing in him he can’t fight much longer. As the two spend a night out together and rumors stir of their relationship, Harry has to decide whats and act, and what signs Alice could really be sending. A geeky  developer can have a hard time between reality and make believe. But as Alice and Harry spend more time together, the more they realize how in sync they truly are. Separate they are powerful and smart as can be; but together these two are a geeky force of adorable to be reckoned with.

While this classifies as a traditional romance, it definitely has a more new adult feel. Alice is preparing for college while Harry is in his early 20s. Despite this, there is some maturity to both of them that at times can be a bit confusing. But their age shows in their naivety and their awkwardness in tense situations, even though it ends up making the two of them more endearing. The story is a little slow and there’s a lot that could’ve been solved if they would’ve just been hones from the start. Not a bad read, but I unfortunately couldn’t connect with the story too much because of the bounce back between how the characters presented themselves. Its sweet, its simple, and for those looking for a fun break between heartbreakers, this is a go to palate read.

img_4514 From Christina Phillips, a sexy, new romance with a hero you won’t forget...

I’m not looking for love or a Happily-Ever-After because I know how that ends. I just need to concentrate on my degree and look after myself. But there’s something about my boss, Harry, I can’t resist. It’s crazy since he’s so hot and smart it should be illegal.

And then, just like Cinderella, I have my night at the ball and a midnight kiss, and for a week all my sexy daydreams come true. That fake date changes my life in a way I could never imagine. It turns out, Harry wants me too.

But I’m off to pursue my dreams, and he’s taking his business to the next level. There’s no way this fairytale has a happy ending, but that doesn’t keep me from wishing for it.

Ooooh are bad boy MC romances the dirty kind of fun.

Amelia is on a mission to take down the man who’s father murdered her own…only she didn’t count on him being so goregous, and sexy..and sweet. Gage has a rule: he doesn’t mess with the girls that work in his bar. But one look at Amelia and he knows it’s game over: she’s his.

These two are hot-hot-hot! Gage is bad boy to the core and oh does he bring that to the bedroom when it comes to Amelia. He’ll do and say anything to get her to fall for him. He should know better, that people aren’t always what they seem.

When Amelia realizes she’s been taken for a fool by one of Gage’s enemies, she’s stunned at Gage’s violent reaction to learning her truth. If she can learn to forgive Gage for his family’s past, how will he learn to forgiver her for wanting payback?

Hot hot hot read and definitely filled with edge-of-the-seat tension! I hope there will be more of these Viking bikers!

Gage…

I don’t fuck girls who work for me, but as soon as Amelia turns those big green eyes on me I know she’s trouble. I can’t keep my hands off her, and the almost-but-not-quite-sex we share in the kitchen is the hottest thing I’ve ever had. Except she calls it quits, before we’ve even started.

Instead of moving on, she’s all I can think about and that’s bad news. I’m breaking all my rules for her, and don’t even care.

Until I find out who she is and what she really wants. She’s after payback, but there’s no way she’s going to get it. No way in hell…

EXCERPT

I trace the outline of her ear and those three irresistible hoops. She gives a little shiver but still doesn’t grab hold of me. Guess it’s time to ease her mind on things.

I move in closer, and she steps back until she’s flat against the larder door.

“What happens between us tonight doesn’t affect your job. You understand?”

“You mean if I knee your nuts, you won’t fire me?”

Instinctively, I cradle my junk. “That wasn’t my first thought.”

Her smile damn near takes my breath away. “I bet it wasn’t. I know exactly what you’re thinking.”

“Is that right?” I’m sure my package is safe so I twist a length of her hair around my finger. It’s as soft and silky as I imagined. “What’s that, then?”

“I think you’re trying to get inside my thong.”

The image of Amelia in nothing but a sexy thong fills my head. “You got a problem with that?”

“Yeah. It’s not happening.”

My gaze drops to her mouth. “Wanna bet?”

“I don’t need to bet. I’m telling you. All you get tonight is a kiss.”

Chicks don’t lay down the law to me. But then again, I’ve never been with a girl who confuses me as much as Amelia. If she wants to leave, she could easily walk away. I won’t stop her. But she stands there, like she’s daring me to take me up on her offer.

A kiss.

I give her a mocking smile. “You’ll want more than a kiss from me.”

She doesn’t answer right away, and I hide my smirk of victory as I lean in to claim her mouth. Her head tilts to the side, evading me, which is both frustrating and oddly fascinating.

“It doesn’t matter what I want. A kiss is my best offer. Take it or leave it.”

Despite the throb between my legs, I have the crazy urge to laugh. “That’s your best offer? You sure you don’t want me to go down on you?”

For a second I swear she’s about say yes, but then she hitches in a ragged breath. “Totally sure. Keep your head right where it is.”

No chick has ever refused that offer before, and the way she’s so desperately trying to hide how turned on she is makes me grin. “Okay. But I’ll only kiss you on one condition.”

“Huh?” She sounds drunk, and blinks at me like everything’s out of focus. “You have a condition?”

“It’s only fair.”

She stares at me as though I’ve lost my mind. I think I fucking have. Not that I care, since crazy as this all is, I’ve never had as much fun hooking up before.

Finally, she speaks. “What is it?”

“I can use my hands on you.” I wave my fingers in her face and she glances at them as though she has no idea what I’m talking about.

“Okay.” There’s a cautious note in her voice as though she thinks it’s some kind of trick. “But that’s all. Just your hands.”

That’s all I need.
