DEAR JANE – A Kendall Ryan Review

I’m so glad that Kendall Ryan branched out in to sports romance. I see a whole new genre for her to dominate! After ten years and a broken heart Jane has moved on and dedicated herself to her career as the assistant manager for the Hawks football team. The last thing she needs is the man who broke her heart to be their latest quarterback. But determination to ignore him fades as memories resurface. And the boy she knew ten years ago, isn’t the same man in front of her now.

Chase knows that seeing Jane won’t be easy but her cold shoulder isn’t what he expected; since she broke up with him ten years ago. They were each others’ first everything and they knew a long distance relationship as young as they were would be difficult, and unfortunately didn’t last. But Chase is determined to win her back over, at least her friendship so they can be civil and work alongside one another. But the more time they spend together, Chase and Jane both fall back into their old habits of flirting and comforting one another. It’s hard to deny their chemistry is off their charts and they work so well together. But Jane drops a bombshell that shakes Chase to his core and has him making mistake after mistake and risking it all to win back Jane one final time.

I loved the drama in this romance!! I’m a sucker for it, I swear. There’s a touch of slow burn alongside this second chance romance. It takes Chase a few tries to get in the game. First he has to warm Jane back up to his presence and they find that ten years hasn’t made much of a difference for the way they interact. Then she reveals why she broke up with him and he has to handle that pain fresh and raw. He doesn’t have the most mature response to that pain and has a lot to make up for in order to win back Jane again. And finally, Chase has to overcome his dedication to football in order to lay it all out on the line to keep Jane forever. Jane is tough and speaks her mind. The way they ebb and flow through this story make it such an easy read and its filled with some steamy scenes that light pages on fire! Highly recommend this romance to any romance readers!

I broke her heart ten years ago and left town.

She hates me, and rightly so. It doesn’t matter that the rest of the country loves me, that I’m a starting quarterback with a multimillion-dollar contract. Because when I look in the mirror, all I see is a failure who was too young—and too afraid—to fight for what I wanted.

But I’m not that guy anymore, and all I need is one shot to convince her.

***
He has no idea what happened after he left. And now I’m supposed to work alongside him like we don’t have this huge, messy history?

But I’m older now, wiser, and I won’t let anything stand in my way of doing a good job for this league. Not even one overpaid, arrogant player who thinks we’re going to kiss and make up.

News flash, buddy: I am over you.
